Getting Started
MeraChat is an intelligent chat platform that allows you to interact with advanced AI models. You can ask questions, get assistance with tasks, brainstorm ideas, and have natural conversations.
Our platform supports multiple AI providers, giving you access to state-of-the-art language models for various use cases.
Starting a conversation is easy:
- Log in to your account
- On web: Click the 'New Chat' button in the sidebar, or just start typing in the chat interface
- On mobile: Open the sidebar (☰ menu or swipe right) and tap the + button, or tap + in the header
- Type your message or question in the input box and press Enter or tap the send button
Your conversation will be automatically saved so you can return to it later.
You can ask the AI about virtually anything:
- General knowledge questions
- Writing and editing assistance
- Code help and debugging
- Creative brainstorming
- Problem-solving and analysis
- Language translation
- And much more!
The AI is designed to be helpful, harmless, and honest in its responses.
Language & Input Settings
You need to add a keyboard for your language on your device:
- Windows: Settings → Time & Language → Add a language → Install. Switch with Win+Space
- Mac: System Settings → Keyboard → Text Input → Edit → Add. Switch with Ctrl+Space
- Android: Install Gboard → Settings → Languages → Add keyboard. Switch by holding Space
- iPhone/iPad: Settings → General → Keyboard → Add New Keyboard. Switch with 🌐 icon
Most keyboards support both native script and transliteration (typing in English letters).
Transliteration lets you type in your language using English letters:
- Type words as they sound in English (e.g., 'namaste' becomes 'नमस्ते')
- The keyboard automatically converts Roman letters to your language script
- Look for 'Transliteration' or 'Phonetic' layout when adding keyboards
- Great for users more comfortable with English keyboards
This is the easiest way to start typing in Indian languages without learning new keyboard layouts.
To change the MeraChat interface language:
- On web: Click your profile picture in the sidebar → Settings → General tab → Language dropdown
- On mobile: Tap the + button (left of chat input) → Tap 'Language' → Select your preferred language
- Select your preferred language from the list
- The interface will update immediately
You can chat with the AI in any language regardless of this setting.
Using the Chat
You can select different AI models:
- On web: Click the model selector at the top-right of the navigation bar to pick a specific model or switch to Auto mode
- On mobile: Tap the model selector in the chat input area to pick a specific model or switch to Auto mode
- Browse available models from providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, xAI (Grok), and Inception (Mercury)
- Each conversation remembers your model choice
Model availability by plan:
- FREE: Access to selected models optimized for general use
- PRO: Access to all available models including the most advanced ones
Choosing the right model:
- Fast models: Quick responses, ideal for simple questions and casual conversations
- Balanced models: Good mix of speed and capability for most tasks
- Advanced models: Best for complex reasoning, coding, analysis, and creative work
- Specialized models: Some models excel at specific tasks like coding or long-form writing
Tip: Advanced models consume more tokens but provide higher quality responses. Choose based on your task complexity.
You can easily manage multiple conversations:
- On web: All your conversations are listed in the sidebar on the left. Click on any conversation to switch to it.
- On mobile: Open the sidebar (☰ menu or swipe right) to see your conversation list. Tap any conversation to open it.
- The conversation titles are generated automatically based on your first message
- You can search, filter by Favorites or Shared, and long-press (mobile) or hover (web) to rename, favorite, or delete conversations
Currently, individual messages cannot be edited after being sent. However, you can:
- Start a new conversation to rephrase your question
- Copy useful responses for later reference
- Delete entire conversations from the sidebar (hover over a conversation and click the delete icon)
To share a conversation with others:
- Open a saved conversation (sharing is not available for new or incognito chats)
- Tap or click the share icon in the chat header
- Enable sharing to generate a public link
- On web: Copy the link. On mobile: The native share sheet will open automatically so you can share via any app.
Shared conversations are read-only for viewers. They can see the conversation but cannot modify it. You can disable sharing at any time from the same share button.
Usage limits depend on your plan type:
- FREE: Daily and monthly token limits apply. You can track your usage in the sidebar.
- PRO: Higher token limits and access to premium models.
Tokens are units used to measure AI usage. Both your questions and the AI's responses consume tokens. Your limits reset daily and monthly.
You can generate images directly in MeraChat:
- On web: Type a description of the image in the chat input (for example, "a watercolor sunset over the Himalayas") and press Send.
- On mobile: Either type a description in the chat input and send, or tap the 'Image' button in the top header for a template-based flow.
- Wait for MeraChat to generate and display the image in the chat.
- You can ask follow-up edits or generate variations from there.

MeraChat can edit images you upload — change the background, transfer styles, modify subjects, and more:
- On web: Click the + (plus) button next to the chat input to attach the image, then describe the edit in the same message and press Send.
- On mobile: Either attach the image via the + button and describe the edit in the same message, or tap the 'Image' button in the top header for a template-based flow.
- For example: "remove the background" or "make it look like a watercolor painting".
- You can refine further by sending another instruction in the same conversation.
Editing preserves the subject's identity wherever possible, so the same person/object stays recognizable across style changes.
MeraChat can analyse documents (PDFs, text files) and images (photos, screenshots, charts) using the same flow:
- Click the + (plus) button next to the chat input.
- Pick the document or image from your device.
- Type your question about the file (for example, "summarize this PDF" or "what's in this screenshot?").
- Press Send. MeraChat reads the file and answers based on its contents.
Large files may take a few seconds. If a file is too large or unsupported, MeraChat will let you know.
MeraChat supports both speaking to it (Speech-to-Text) and having replies read aloud (Text-to-Speech):
- Voice input (STT): Tap the microphone icon in the chat input to dictate your message instead of typing.
- Voice output (TTS): Below each assistant reply, tap the speaker icon to hear the response read aloud.
- Both work across the languages MeraChat supports, including English, Hindi, and other Indian languages.
- You can pause/stop voice playback at any time.
Microphone permission is required the first time you use voice input on web or mobile.
Account & Data Management
You can export all your conversation data:
- On web: Go to Settings → Danger Zone tab → Click 'Export my data'
- On mobile: Open sidebar (☰) → Tap ⚙ gear icon → Data Control → Tap 'Export All Data'
- You'll receive an email with a download link
- The export includes all your conversations and messages in a structured format
You can export your data once every 24 hours.
To delete all conversations at once:
- On web: Go to Settings → Danger Zone tab → Click 'Delete all conversations'
- On mobile: Open sidebar (☰) → Tap ⚙ gear icon → Data Control → Tap 'Delete All Conversations'
- Confirm the action (this requires two confirmations on both platforms)
- All conversations will be permanently deleted
Warning: This action cannot be undone. All your conversations and messages will be permanently deleted.
If you wish to delete your account:
- On web: Go to Settings → Danger Zone tab → Click 'Delete account'
- On mobile: Open sidebar (☰) → Tap ⚙ gear icon → Data Control → Tap 'Delete Account'
- Confirm the action (this requires two confirmations)
- You will be signed out automatically
When you delete your account:
- All your conversations, messages, and personal data are permanently deleted within 30 days
- Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained for service improvement
- This action is irreversible — your data cannot be recovered
- You may sign up again with the same email, but none of your previous data will be restored

- Data required for legal compliance may be retained as necessary
- Your data cannot be recovered after deletion — this action is irreversible
We strongly recommend exporting your data before deleting your account. You can do this from Settings → Data Control (mobile) or Settings → Danger Zone (web).
To update your profile:
- On web: Click your profile picture in the sidebar → Settings → Profile tab
- On mobile: Open sidebar (☰) → Tap ⚙ gear icon → Personalization
- Update your display name
- Tap Save to apply changes
Note: Your email address is tied to your authentication provider (Google, GitHub, etc.) and cannot be changed directly in the app.
Your current plan, remaining credits, and usage are visible in the app — MeraChat won't quote numbers in chat to avoid showing stale information.
- On web: Open the side drawer — your plan badge and Credit Usage panel are shown at the bottom. Click your name to access 'Upgrade plan' for billing.
- On mobile: Tap the + button in the chat input and choose 'Subscription' to view your plan, credits, and usage.
- You'll see your current plan tier, credits used, and options to upgrade.

- On web: Click 'Privacy Policy' or 'Terms of Service' links in the footer of the chat page, or visit merachat.ai/privacy and merachat.ai/terms directly
- On mobile: Open sidebar (☰) → Tap ⚙ gear icon → About → Tap 'Privacy Policy' or 'Terms of Service'
- Our Privacy Policy covers data collection, retention, GDPR, DPDPA (India), and CCPA (California) compliance
- Our Terms of Service cover usage rules, content ownership, subscriptions, and dispute resolution
